Support for Students Experiencing Homelessness

The City of Manchester Health Department (MHD) has partnered with the Manchester School District to provide an experienced Community Health Worker to assist students/families experiencing homelessness with basic needs. The CHW can connect students/families to medical, dental, and vision providers; help them secure health insurance; assist them in completing applications or determining eligibility for Medicaid, WIC/Food Stamps, fuel/rental assistance, and other financial assistance; and connect
them to resources for food, clothing, housing, and other basic needs and social supports.

Mentor 2.0

Big Brothers Big Sisters of New Hampshire is thrilled to introduce its newest program, Mentor 2.0, a technology-enhanced, one-to-one mentoring program that provides transformative support to students Manchester West High School. Mentor 2.0 aims to provide students with an opportunity for college and career exploration, preparing them with the skills and tools to succeed after high school. Students are matched with a mentor in their first year and will work together throughout their high school experience following guided, weekly online communication during school hours through the iMentor platform (digital app) and monthly in-person meetings during the school year.

MY TURN Project Complete

MY TURN Project Complete is open to anyone attending Central, West, or Memorial who is in need of an alternative way to earn their secondary credential. HiSET instructors provide a combination of in-person classes and one-on-one tutoring to prepare students to successfully complete the HiSET battery.

In addition, students in our Project Complete programs receive a variety of services to meet their individual needs including career guidance, post-secondary planning, paid work-based learning opportunities, job placement assistance, and more.  

MY TURN – Diploma Plus Program – West High School

MY TURN Diploma Plus Programs work with young people ages 14 to 21 who are at risk of dropping out of high school or need additional support to be successful.  We provide a variety of services to meet the individual needs of our students including academic instruction and tutoring, college and career exploration, college and industry tours, paid and unpaid work- based learning opportunities, assistance with barrier removal, and more. 

Extended Learning Opportunities – West High School

An ELO is a way for a student to demonstrate mastery of academic competency, and to receive high school credit for that mastery, in some way other than attending a formal class at school. All ELO projects must be approved in advance by an administrator and the ELO Coordinator at the student’s school.

BRING IT!

Academic support and tutoring, career exploration, dance and performing arts, soccer-fitness offered on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at Hillside Middle School.

Manchester Health Department Dental Care Program

The City of Manchester Health Department works with the Manchester School District to bring dental care to children in need at Manchester’s elementary, middle, and high schools. Dental care is provided on a dental van at each school during school hours by a certified Public Health Dental Hygienist and, when needed, a licensed dentist. Students can also be referred to local dental offices for ongoing dental care. The program serves an average of 600 students each school year at all 21 Manchester public schools.

Access Academy

Access Academy is an on-campus & remote afterschool educational program for high school students who identify with groups often underrepresented in high school & college graduation. It offers multiple Mondays and Tuesdays courses taught by college students, that provide students with skills for school success, college mentors, career exploration & high school credits. Courses include Computer Technology, Arts, and Personal Finance. In Access, students gain friendships that fuel aspirations.

GEAR UP Manchester

Xây dựng cầu nối học thuật giữa các trường trung học, doanh nghiệp và trường cao đẳng trong NH để chuẩn bị tốt hơn cho học sinh thành công khi học đại học bằng cách mở rộng chương trình Học bổng NH trên toàn tiểu bang. Ngoài ra, GEAR UP Manchester sẽ cung cấp cơ hội cho các sinh viên không có đại diện để phát triển các kỹ năng phi nhận thức quan trọng để tiếp cận giáo dục đại học. Để tạo ra một văn hóa đi đại học trong NH để mọi sinh viên đều có ý tưởng rằng học đại học là có thể. Để thiết kế một mô hình học tập phù hợp với các kỳ vọng về nội dung học tập từ K-12 và giáo dục cao hơn để tăng khả năng ghi danh và chuẩn bị cho đại học. Phát triển và duy trì cam kết địa phương và toàn tiểu bang từ các doanh nghiệp, trường trung học, cao đẳng và phụ huynh để giúp sinh viên NH sẵn sàng vào đại học.
